I can’t believe we are already one third of the way through the school year! I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and would like to wish you all a happy and peaceful New Year. This is the time of year when people make resolutions with the aim of changing something about their lives and many of our children have spent the first few days back thinking about how they could make their own lives better; how they could make our school better; how they could be kinder to other people and for those children in year 6 – what they want to achieve in their SATs in May.
Spring Term is a busy time in school as children in Year 2 and Year 6 prepare for their formal end of key stage assessments and all of our children will be working extremely hard this term. I would ask parents to support their children with their reading and homework activities as this will help them and reinforce their learning.
As well as working hard we also have lots of fun things to look forward to including: Chinese New Year; a music celebration in St. Thomas’ Church on 7th February; our annual Valentine’s Disco on 16th February; Fairtrade fortnight and many more events, trips and visitors to school.
Our curriculum jigsaws will be sent home soon, detailing the topics and units of work your child will be covering this term. Our curriculum theme is ‘In The Picture’ and I know that the teachers have lots of amazing lessons and activities linked to this theme.
Once again, happy new year and let’s look forward to 2017 and all that it brings!
