Our school is made up of many voices, skills and points of view. Teachers, staff, parents, governors, grandparents and official visitors offer our children many new experiences and opportunities to learn about both traditional subjects and other life skills. You may have heard your child come home and talk about roasting marshmallows with Sam or spinning plates with Marty…I certainly have, and my response is: ‘Really? I never got to do that at school!’ So, we have asked (and will be asking) these people to write something about their experience in our school. This week we have two voices to share, they come from Sam Jackson ( Sc.out.ed, Science & Outdoor Education Specialist) and Marty Bloomfield (Circurama, Circus skills for schools and communities).
I have visited Stanhope Barrington over twenty times during the last two academic years and have been made to feel like part of the team since my first visit. A very friendly staff and enthusiastic pupils have meant I have thoroughly enjoyed delivering the sessions – from ‘Light’, ‘Forces’ and ‘Electricity’ to ‘Bush craft & Survival’. Children are keen to learn and excited to be learning with someone new. They listen, follow instructions and grasp difficult concepts by investigating through self-discovery and teamwork.
Staff are professional and the school is very well led and managed. There is a flexibility amongst the whole team to support each other, share ideas and most importantly, make the children feel special. Mr Myers finds time every lunchtime to sit with pupils, talk to them and laugh with them and also identifies children who have done something to be proud of, whether it be in school or something outside of school and honours them in assemblies.
The senior leadership team are aiming to offer all the pupils new opportunities and as many different experiences as they can give them – and they are very much succeeding!

Once again another fabulous two days working with the teachers and children of Stanhope Barrington C of E Primary School. As always the children were impeccably behaved, listened and followed our instructions as well as supporting and respecting one another. It was great also to see such fine leadership which is visible throughout the team creating a wonderful working and learning environment within and around the school. We were particularly impressed at how certain individual talents were recognised, encouraged and supported to bring them onto the next level. We’ve had such a great time working in this lovely school.
Marty Bloomfield, Circurama
Thank you to Sam and Marty for visiting and contributing their skills and for helping to make our school an exciting, fun and unique place to learn.
