In response to a collective worship questionnaire completed by children in March 2016, we have now implemented one of their fantastic suggestions.
On Monday 13th June 2016 we put up a prayer tree in the school hall and invited children to write their own prayers to hang on the tree. Some of the prayers are truly moving and very thoughtful. Since the prayer tree has been established, whichever teacher is leading collective worship, asks a child to come to the front and choose a prayer to read out. The children have really responded positively to this and enjoy taking part in the services.
This is a great example of ‘pupil voice’. The collective worship questionnaire was suggested at a school council meeting, the children designed the questions and trialled them. Every child in the school took part and then an action plan was developed as a result.
