It’s not what you think…and it has nothing to do with chicken. ‘KFC’ is the acronym we are using in school this year to frame the Christian Character and Virtues of Stanhope Barrington C of E Primary School. During the Autumn term the focus will be on Kindness (K); in the Spring term the focus will be on Fellowship (F), and in the Summer term the focus will be on Confidence (C).
During each term the children will be learning about the importance of these virtues. This Autumn, through a variety of assemblies and lessons, the children will be introduced the qualities of ‘Kindness’, including: being generous, forgiving, tolerant, compassionate, caring, thoughtful, supportive, gentle and grateful. The Spring term will focus on ‘Fellowship’ and will include lessons on being community-minded, family orientated, respectful, co-operative, morally brave, dependable, loyal and trustworthy. In the Summer Term, ‘Confidence’ will be the theme and will include lessons on being resilient, responsible, committed, determined, resourceful, creative, inquisitive, honest, imaginative, diligent and optimistic.
These important lessons will benefit the children now and into the future and will encourage them to develop to their full potential. So, if you hear your child talking about their KFC lesson at school, it’s not about the secret recipe for crispy chicken but about the positive virtues that will carry them through life.
