Welcome back, we hope you have had a lovely Easter Break and have returned ready for the last term of the school year. Following on from the theme of Food at Easter presented at the Easter Service, our creative theme this term is Food For Thought. The teachers have some exciting lessons and events planned around this theme to introduce the children to the cuisine of other countries and cultures, including: food tasting sessions, cooking lessons and, even, how to run their own French restaurant!
Later in the term we have a mobile planetarium visiting the school and every child will have the opportunity to go star gazing. Hopefully this experience will encourage the children to reach for the stars and develop to their full potential.
The last term is the busiest term in the life of the school as we prepare our Year 2 and Year 6 children for their end of key stage SATs. Teachers and children are working extremely hard at the moment and we wish the children well in their tests. The last term is a bittersweet time as we prepare to say goodbye to another group of Year 6 children. This year we will be attending the Leaver’s service at Durham Cathedral and have our own Leaver’s service at St Thomas’ Church.
At the end of term we have our annual Sports Day to look forward to and lets hope the weather is kinder to us this year than it was last year!
We hope your child will have a great summer term and have returned ready to work hard and play hard.
