It’s business as usual at Stanhope Barrington…
I would like to reassure parents, carers and staff that the Senior Leadership Team are receiving daily updates from the Department of Education and that we are following their advice and guidelines to the letter and it is our intention to take a sensible and measured approach.
- Children have been shown how to wash hands correctly and we are using Department for Health resources including video and song to do this
- All children are being supervised to ensure correct handwashing before lunch
- Children are being encouraged to wash their hands after sneezing or coughing
- Each Class Teacher is holding an appropriate ‘circle time’ session to discuss children’s understanding of and worries about Coronavirus
- We are required to follow up any absence of a child who is known to have been out of the country recently
Preparing for the Future:
- Following the COBRA meeting and the Prime Minister’s announcements yesterday I am pleased to report that schools in England will remain open at the moment
- We are unable to close the school without approval from the DfE and DfH
- There are no confirmed or suspected cases in our school at the current time
- We have been advised that schools may close in the near future when it is deemed appropriate to do so as part of the Delay Action Plan. This is a huge judgement for the government to make and will only be done so when absolutely necessary
- In the event of a closure, our Year 6 children will be given a revision pack of work. At this stage, we do not have advice or guidance on what will happen about their end of Primary SATs and will therefore continue to prepare them in the normal way. Year 6 would be given this revision pack for over the Easter Holidays anyway
- If we are closed, a letter will be issued which will include advice and suggestions for how you can continue to support your child at home including: using on-line resources, reading with them, practising time-tables, researching topics etc.
As you know the situation is changing on a daily basis and we will do all we can to ensure you are kept up to date with any impact on our school but for now – at Stanhope Barrington – it is business as usual.
